Crayola Christmas Countdown Activity Advent Calendar

As a lover of stationery and crafts, this calendar makes me very happy.

At first glance, this advent calendar appears to be filled with stationary only, but if you open the secret door at the back, you get an activity pack too. Each item of stationery is related to a specific activity. The instructions for each activity is printed on the inside of that day’s door.

The calendar has an outer shell that needs to be removed BEFORE you gift it to someone. It isn’t obvious that you need to open it to reveal a large ribbon and tag printed on the back.

The stationery selection is seriously cool.
Some of my favourites are the scented markers (and the scents are spot on! Popcorn smells exactly like freshly popped corn!), metallic crayons, paint tubs and Model Magic. The Model Magic also comes with instructions to make your own tree decorations, complete with wobbly eyes, hanging hooks and ribbon. I am VERY excited to make these.

I was already impressed with all the stationery, but the activity pack is the cherry on top.

The activities range from writing a letter to Santa, making your own tree decorations, finger puppets, colour in your own stickers (there are LOTS of sticker sheets), gift tags, a fold up Christmas tree, gift box and ginger bread house, as well as tasks and puzzles.

I really like the tasks. For example, there’s a card that asks you to draw your favourite Christmas film, so you can plan that the kids watch their favourite film that day too. Another card requests a drawing of one Santa’s reindeers, so you could take the time to teach them all the reindeers’ names, or watch a film about it.

This advent calendar makes it really fun to teach kids the different aspects and traditions of Christmas. Apart from knowing that it is the day that Jesus was born and the endless demands of “mummy, I want THIS for Christmas” every five minutes, they get to see that it is also about quality family time, decorating the house, and doing things for other people, such as sending them a post card to let them know that you are thinking about them.

I rate this calendar 12 out of 10. It really ticks all the boxes for me.

I bought mine from John Lewis for £20.
I’m so chuffed with it, that I’ve ordered a second one to giveaway.
