Oh, look! Another nude, matte, liquid lipstick that I don’t need! *Adds to cart*
I find the name of this product, Essence Matt Matt Matt Longlasting Lipgloss, to be quite misleading because it’s not matte, not long lasting nor a true lipgloss but luckily the description on the back of the package sets the record straight… mostly.
The label reads “long lasting, creamy lipgloss for velvet-matte lips – does not dry out the lips, high coverage”.
I 100% agree that it’s creamy, very opaque and velvety but I cannot stand behind the longevity of this lippie. The longest it’s lasted on my lips was two hours and only because I didn’t eat or drink anything in that time. It’s just too creamy to stay put for hours on end. I don’t mind this though because the formula is extremely comfortable. It is not heavy, sticky or drying. The lipstick also does not settle in the grooves (wrinkles) of your lips, earning itself major brownie points in my books. The finish is stunning. The velvety sheen looks very sophisticated and you’d never say it’s a £2 lippie that you are wearing.
Due to the creaminess, it wears off quite evenly so I never have to worry about the dreaded two tone lips fail. Even though it’s super creamy, it does not run. (If you don’t know what I mean – some oily / creamy lipsticks tend to melt once it warms up on your lips causing it to migrate all over the edges.)
It transfers off easily too but again, I don’t mind it. It may just be me, but I’m OK with lipstick transferring onto my tea cup or fading as I eat, just as long as it’s easy to reapply and the fade doesn’t look nasty.
Swatch of Essence Matt Matt Matt Longlasting Lipgloss in the shade 02 Beauty – Approved!
Colour-wise, this is my favourite kind of pinky-brown nude. It’s easy to wear and will look flattering on many different skin tones.
The only thing I don’t like is the scent. It smells like vanilla butter cream frosting but luckily the scent disappears almost instantly.
All in all though, this lippie really impressed me.
