July Beauty Favourites

I have been playing “one, two skip a few” with the monthly favourites posts.
Most of my makeup and beauty products were boxed up for two months while we moved so I was living on the essentials only. July was also a rough month, so I’ve just been trying to keep my head above water.

The general, “easy going beauty” applies for this month’s favourites. The products are nothing extravagant or unusual but they are worth their salt and I can whole heatedly recommend them.

Nivea Soft Lotion

I asked you guys on Twitter for hand cream recommendations and I now have a reeeaally long list of products to try out. Thank you so much taking time out of your day to let me know!

This tube of goodness from Nivea costs a meager £2.50 but it can be used on your face, hands and body. I just like to use it as hand cream though.

It’s not overly oily and it makes my hands feel super soft and supple for a decent amount of time. I don’t expect it to really improve the wrinkles on my hands like an overnight hand mask will, but it’s also not why I bought it. I needed something that would make my hands feel less sandpapery during the day without making oily spots all over my phone and keyboard – and this does just that. LOVE IT!

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor

I love a good hair mask. Joico’s K-Pak Reconstructor and Philip Kingsley’s Elasticizer are two of my holy grail products but the price is just way to hectic for me, at the moment.

I’ve heard so many good things about Aussie’s 3 Minute Miracle Masks over the years, so when Superdrug was running a three for £10 PLUS free 180ml dry shampoo deal on Aussie products, I stocked up!

I’ve used it about five times now and I fall more in love with it every time! It makes my hair feel so much smoother and stronger. I’m also experiencing less knotting and my hair looks shinier. I think my favorite thing is the way my hair feels when I run my hands through it. It feels like I’ve just been to the salon.

I thought it would weight my hair down but it didn’t – not even when I used it on my roots, so I’m giving this product two big thumbs up.

L’Oreal Phytoclear Anti-Dandruff Regulating Shampoo

I had hooorrriiiibbblleeeee dandruff. I could make it snow if I even so much as nod in agreement. I was chatting to a work colleague about it, moaning that Head & Shoulders, T/Gel and the likes were not helping me. She suggested this one from L’Oreal and it has changed my life!

On the first use, I would say 80% of my flakes vanished. By the second use, I could run my nails on my scalp and nothing would flake off. It’s incredible! I’m on my third bottle now (I’ve been using this shampoo for about four months now) and there’s no stopping me.

Besides removing my flakes, it also does a great job removing all the dry shampoo build up from my roots. If you haven’t given this a go before then I suggest you buy some right away. I’ve been telling aaalll my friends and family about it and now I’ve told you! You can call me the Phytoclear evangelist.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Oil-free Moisturiser

A few years back, I spent many months trying to find a light weight moisturizer that didn’t leave my combination skin looking like an oil slick after a few hours. This oil free moisturizer from Neutrogena made the cut but I had since forgotten about it after we moved to the UK. I just happened to spot it on sale in Boots the other day and it was like bumping into an old friend. I’ve been using it ever since and am once again reminded why I loved it so much.

The moisturizer sinks into my skin quite quickly making it perfect to use under makeup. It does a decent job of keeping my dry cheeks hydrated but at the same time, keeping my oily t-zone in check.

I only use this during the day though. It’s too light weight, in my opinion, for night time. I like to use plenty of hydrating serums before bed.

L’Oreal Baby Roll Mascara – Black

I bought this purely because I liked the packaging and the interesting looking wand. That, and the fact that I am a fan of L’Oreal Baby mascara range, in general. This one didn’t disappoint.

It glides on smoothly, evenly coating my lashes with no lumps. It seems like it’s not doing much at first, but once it starts drying, it actually curls my eyelashes! It’s so cool!

It lasts all day without flaking off or smudging. It’s hands down my favourite mascara to date. It’s also available in some fun colourful shades, namely Indigo, Lilac and Teal, plus a black waterproof formula.
