Valentine’s Day Gift Guide (2018)

I show my love by giving people gifts – so I really like Valentine’s Day (and Christmas, and birthdays and literally any other commercialized ‘day of gift giving’ ).

Some people think that giving gifts is a cop out, but I don’t see it that way. It’s actually quite tricky to find the perfect, most thoughtful gift sometimes, so I got in touch with some of my favourite brands and compiled a list of gift ideas for you in case you needed a bit of help.

Aaaaand being the month of love, (and because I’ll use any excuse to shower people with gifts) there’s a little giveaway at the end! Eeep!

Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

Beards and Daisies Roses

The Lovebird letterbox bouquet

Beards and Daisies*

These exquisite roses arrive in a thin box that gets slipped through the mail slot. There’s no stressing that your loved one won’t be home to sign for the delivery. Instead, they’ll open the door and find a lovely surprise waiting for them.
The Lovebird bouquet contains 12 Red Naomi roses, which are the only commertially grown red roses with a scent. They also hold up really well during long transport trips, without much water, so you can rest assured that you won’t be sending someone a bunch of wilted roses. Each rose is also individually encased in a fine netting cover to protect it during transport.

You can order the Lovebird letterbox bouquet here.

Balloon Monkey Balloons

Heart Shaped Balloon Bouquet

Balloon Monkey

Last year, I got some balloons from Balloon Monkey for Seth’s first birthday. These foil balloon bouquets arrive pre-inflated with helium, so there’s no fussing about with fiddly, floaty balloons. You simply open the box and out pops the bouquet. I have written an in-depth review (read it here) and there’s a giveaway for £35 bouquet of your choice included in that post.

You can view all of Balloon Monkey’s Valentine’s bouquets here.
£13 to £50

Elizabeth Shaw

Elizabeth Shaw*

Would it even be Valentine’s Day if you didn’t buy someone chocolate? I’m quite fond of these Mint Crisp chocolates from Elizabeth Shaw. The smooth milk chocolate melts away and leaves behind the chewy minty bits. Yum!

Shop Elizabeth Shaw Mint Crisps

Mailbox Sweeties

Feel like gifting someone some surprise sweeties? Then Treats is just what you need. Housed in a thin box that fits through the mail slot, are four little treat tubs You can opt for a once off box, or keep the good times rolling with a monthly subscription. Each month a new selection of sweets are sent out, so you never know what you may get, but one thing is for certain – it will be yummy!

Belmio Coffee

Coffee Pods

Everyone loves a good cup of coffee, even here in Britain, where tea is tops. If your loved one has a Nespresso machine, then I recommend getting them a set of Belmio pods, especially if they love a dark, chocolatey coffee flavour. I have written about these pods before (here) plus there’s 50 Belmio pods up for grabs in that post.

Dunelm Mugs

Couples Coffee Mugs

Valentine’s Day is fraught with kitsch slogan mugs, which is fine if you are into that. I’m not though, but I do love the idea of couples mugs. I went on a hunt to find grown up versions of his and her mugs and came across these two at Dunelm. They’re enormous and hold nearly two cups of coffee, which is perfect for lazy Sunday morning chats in bed. I love that they are the same shape, but have their own unique glazing. Same same, but different.

Teapigs Modern Matcha Kit

Modern Matcha Kit

Tea Pigs*

Matcha and green tea are made from the same plant but it’s the way you drink it that sets them apart. Green tea is made by steeping the leaves in hot water, whereas a Matcha drink, is made by mixing the ground up leaves in hot milk (coconut or almond). One cup of matcha is equivalent to 10 cups of green tea.
The Tea Pigs Modern Matcha Kit comes with 30g of organic matcha, a 2ml measuring spoon, Aerolatte electric whisk (batteries included) and an instruction leaflet explaining how to make the perfect cup of matcha.

Whiskey Rockers and Stones

Whiskey Rockers and Whiskey Stones

Find me a Gift*

Perhaps your Valentine is not into tea or coffee? These whiskey rockers have a rounded bottom but are perfectly weighted to stay upright… unless you decide to perform some fun balancing acts with the help of whiskey stones. Whiskey stones won’t water down your drink and will keep it cooler for much longer than their plastic counterparts.

Cook Books

I love cooking together with my other half and there’s something special about making a recipe from a book, instead of reading it from your phone. Jamie recently released his 5 Ingredients cook book, which is honestly my absolute favorite cook book to date. Nigella’s new At my Table is a close second. They have both brought out TV shows along with their books, so it’s fun to snuggle up on the couch and watch what you’re going to cook for dinner later. Both books are packed full of recipes perfect for everyday as well as special occasions, but none of them are daunting.

Tangible Stationery Notebooks

Tangible Stationery Notebooks

Tangible Stationery*

Whether your significant other (or yourself) love to plan, bullet journal or simply just jot things down, then have a peek at Tangible Stationery’s selection of notebooks. They have many page options such as blank, lined, squared or dotted. They also offer personalization with embossing and foil letters in many different shades.
Their customer service is also on point and they sent me images via email to make sure I was happy with the outcome of the “WITH LOVE” text I had chosen.

Stabilo Pastel Highlighters

Stabilo Pastel Highlighters

Pastel Stationery

Soft pastel colours are all the rage at the moment and stationery companies have jumped on the band wagon, much to my delight. I wish I had these while I was at school. The subtle colours of these highlighters are what watercolour bujo dreams are made of. They are visible but not over powering and can be layerd beautifully. I love that Stabilo have expanded the line to include pastel shades on their Point 88 pens as well as their Pen 68 colouring markers.

Amazon Echo

Amazon Echo (2nd generation)

Although this is a bit of a splurge, it’s worth it. We have the Echo in the bedroom, and Dots dotted all around the house. Alexa controls the Philips Hue lights for us, plays my beloved Spotify playlists, reads out recipes and even calls my other half when I can’t reach him on his phone. I’m quite convinced my son’s first full sentence will be “Alexa! Make me some milk!” I better not tell him that Alexa can order his favourite toys off Amazon Prime too.

Calvin Klein Perfume

Perfume / Fragrances

The nostalgia and memories that a specific scent brings us, is amazing. So if you are planning a romantic weekend away or a trip abroad, don’t forget to spoil your Valentine with a new Fragrance. You will both be transported back to this moment in time when you smell it again. Eternity Moment from Calvin Klein is extremely floraly and perfect for spring time.

Jewellery Box

Would it even be Valentine’s Day without a bit of bling? Jewellerybox have a massive selection of exquisite pieces that are perfect for every occasion. This dyed mother of pearl locket comes with a sterling sterling silver chain and you get to choose the length to suit your own style. (I personally love long necklaces.) When I chose this locket of the website, I though it was stunning but when it arrived it was even more beautiful in person. Not even this photo that I spent ages trying to capture, is doing it justice. I have a separate giveaway coming soon with some more pretties from Jewellerybox.

Models Own One Night Stand

Nail Polish

Models Own

Models Own’s One Night Stand Mirror Manicure nail polish is said to be the world’s shiniest nail polish ever. It is a true mirror chrome finish and it is INCREDIBLE! (Seriously, Google it.)
If your Valentine loves a good mani then this will be perfect.

Sleek Lippies

Matte Me Lippies

I first discovered Sleek’s Matte Me lip creams back in 2016 and it has been a love affair ever since. They. do. not. budge. I have a review of them (here) and you’ll see that they pass the kiss test with flying colours. They don’t smudge or transfer and they last really, really long. Eating oily food will obviously make them melt away but if you are looking for something that will last on a night out, these are your friend.

Look Good Feel Better Brushes

Look Good Feel Better Brushes

Makeup Brushes

Look Good Feel Better*

These super soft, synthetic brushes from Look Good Feel Better are perfect to pop into your makeup bag on a weekend away. The Makeover Brush Set contains a duo fiber finishing brush, powder brush, tapered blending brush and a detail brush, so you’ll be able to do a full face of makeup with just these four brushes. 10% of the price of these brushes are donated to Look Good Feel Better. They are the only charity that focus on the visual side effects of cancer treatment, such as hair loss. Some of the work they do is to teach people how to paint on missing facial hair, such as eyebrows, so that they can look their best and get their confidence back.

Crabtree & Evelyn

Hand Cream Sets

Crabtree & Evelyn*

It might be cliched (it IS Valentine’s Day after all) but a set of good hand creams, is never a bad idea. My personal faves are all from Crabtree and Evelyn. Not only do they have really unique fragrances, such as Lavender and Espresso, they work really well too. Crabtree & Evelyn also bring out limited edition packages for all the big occasions, such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day etc, so it’s worth checking in regularly.

Bath Oil

Everything about this product is luxurious. The packaging, the simple design of the bottle and the fragrance – OMW! I wish I could add a little block on this page, that would let you smell how amazing the scent is. With a mix of true essential oils such as lavender, lemon, eucalyptus, rosemary, juniper, geranium and verbena, it is truly something to behold. A tiny bit (5ml) of this oil in your bath will transport you somewhere exotic and relaxing like never before. If I was you, I would buy this in bulk. I just can’t get enough of it!

Face Masks

Face Masques and pamper packs

Montagne Jeunesse 7th Heaven*

To me, these are the OG face masks. I remember being a tween and buying all the colourful masks and inviting my girl friends over for a movie and spa night. Fast forward about 15 years, and they still make it into my cart when I do a bit of beauty shopping. Pictured above, is the Complete Party Pack. It includes 2 hair masques, 8 face masques, 1 strengthen nail and cuticle masque, 1 soften glove masques, 1 soften sock masques, 1 flannel, 1 headband and 1 loofa. This is the perfect gift for Galentine’s Day.

Men’s Grooming

This is a cute little prezzie to sneak in if you were planning a secret trip with your man. Something useful and new. You could even take it a step further and buy him Gillette shaving gel and the likes, so that when you get to your destination, he’s got everything he needs. It’s kind of like the Valentine’s equivalent of a stocking filler.

Shop Gillette Fusion ProShield Chill Razor

Massage Oil

Aromatherapy Massage Oil

Indigo Botanicals*

These two bottles of massage oil, contain two very sexy scents. The men’s version is my preferred choice, because the cinnamon and black pepper comes through so strong. Pepper is one of my all time favourite scents. It’s also in one of my fiance’s colognes that he wears everyday, much to my delight! I’m glad I now have a massage oil that smells similar too.
The woman’s version shares similar notes (they both have ylang ylang and bergamot in them) but it is slightly more citrusy and contains fennel and myrtle too.

ONE Condoms

ONE Condoms

It’s the month of love and all the late November / early December babies are being conceived. I get to make that joke because when I went for my first pregnancy scan, the nurse loudly proclaimed “AH! YOU MADE A VALENTINE’S BABY” before telling me that the conception date was the 14th of February, approximately. I did a very awkward half ugly cry, half laugh thing because I had just seen my little jelly bean for the first time and it was the most amazing moment ever, but what she said was also really funny and unexpected and my brain didn’t know how to make two facial reactions at once. Now, unless you are planning on recreating this same moment, I suggest you stick to using ONE condoms. The packaging is very tongue in cheek and I’m here for it. My favourite wrapper that I’ve seen had a dog on it and it said “Give a dog a bONE”. Ahahahaha. Dead. Oh! And another said “Bow chicka wow wow”.
